IRVINGTON KITCHEN

This kitchen remodel, constrained by the existing floor plan, was an exercise in maximizing underutilized spaces. Wanting the space to have an open feeling that is highly functional but not weighted down by wall to wall cabinetry. English-inspired range storage areas played nicely with new handmade tile from Pratt and Larson.

We didn’t want to move any windows in this historic home, so we allowed the location and size of the windows to dictate the location of the eating nook, and tucked a storage area alongside of it.

Each workstation was created with specific needs according to the homeowner’s routines. A large, full-length pantry includes a worktop that allows for breakfast or lunch prep to be hidden away when not used.

The homeowner is an avid knitter, and we were able to integrate an office/knitting space just off the kitchen so she could work on her craft while staying connected to the busy activities of the household.
